ARCHITETTURE DELL'ISOLAMENTO

Curated by Angel Moya Garcia

DESCRIPTION

The Cultural Association Dello Scompiglio presents Architecture of isolation, the solo exhibition by Eugenio Tibaldi, curated by Angel Moya Garcia, which opens on Saturday 25 September from 11.00 to 20.00 in the internal and external spaces of the homonymous Vorno Estate ( Lucca). A complex and articulated project that makes up an analysis of margins, power, crossings and the very concept of normality.

What triggers in people's minds when they take a road that inevitably leads them towards a sort of cognitive isolation from the rest of society, an other space in which it becomes impossible to define a real will of the individual to create this same condition? An event that can be assimilated to a landslide, destined to persist until a rearrangement. In this new arrangement the interior space begins to coincide and adhere to the exterior, without any distinctions or boundaries.

Following the first lockdown in March 2020, Eugenio Tibaldi visits an elegant apartment abandoned for a decade in the center of Turin. His interest in working on mutations, on the margins, on the peripheries - understood both in the social and cultural sphere, and above all mental, ideological and psychological - leads him to question and investigate the accumulation of objects, of every type and origin, which they find completely dusty inside the house. A huge amount of materials collected obsessively by the person who has spent the last ten years of his life confined to that space, refusing any contact with the outside world.

In the Architectures of isolation project the human condition of that person is not called to witness, no matter who he was and how he was physically, the posthumous construction of the conceptual schedule of a choice emerges, a possible way that exists within each of us in which any conception of external space is annulled, allowing oneself to go towards total social disappearance. An external dimension that in this sense vanishes in an absolute and objective meaning. This space becomes only a simplified reference of the porous nature that composes us, which aggregates lights and shadows according to our desire for gaze and emotional charge. A project in which bundling and deprivation go hand in hand and in which isolation, madness and the need to deprive oneself of any social life are formalized.
